Marathon training getting serious

My first full marathon! That is what I am training for as you might know if you are a regular reader of my blog (for which I am very very grateful). But things are getting serious! Several important things happened today: I had two trainings in one day. Of course, I am used to run and cross train in one day, e.g. squash and run, spin and run, swim and run, but I have never actually ran twice in one day.

I had a morning training with The Coach and apart from form exercise and strength training, we did 8x 400 m intervals + warm up run etc. I did around 4 miles. And the last day of my mini training cycle 2 (each cycle has 7 training units) was an easy 10K (6.25 mi) run at 6:00 min/km = 9:39 min/mile. Successfully accomplished just few hours ago! Working with The Coach is another sign of things getting serious. And finally, today, I outran year 2010! 7th month of the year did not even finish and my mileage is already higher that last year. I hope things keep on rolling well for my training.

I am very tired and need to go sleep right now. I promise to keep you posted on how the marathon training goes, thank you for your support! Stay tuned, sign up for email updates or RSS feeds or leave a comment, tell me about your story or send me a link to your blog! And just keep running and listen to your body.

  1. Congratulations :-) I ran twice a day only once a week and just easy jog (max 5km - pace 7-8/km each run).

I am very Nike addicted, but I am starting to think I might need to look around to have different kind of shoes to switch (I am switching between two pairs of Nike right now - on of them Frees).
