Crazy week ends ... only positive outlooks ahead

How little did I know when I wanted to name my Monday post "Monday Morning Madness" ... lot of truth lies in the saying "Be careful what you wish for, it might come true." The past week has been crazy as was the Christmas and end of "old" year time. I hope you will stick with me even though my posts are less frequent. It has also been time of self-reflection, especially around the Czech running / triathlon / athletic blogosphere in the past few winter weeks. I think we are all looking forward to the warmer days with more percentage of daylight than night. Am I right? OK, to be honest I do enjoy the skiing a lot, so I am happy that the winter is finally here, but it is little tougher to keep up the quality running training. Anyway, thank you for reading and staying loyal, welcome to the newcomers who might be just starting up with running. Keep it up and take it slow. It is your inner pace that matters, speeding up needs quite some time.

So what was up with the last week? It started great with the really enjoyable morning run on Monday. Then Tuesday The Coach brought in some torturing tools. OK, he is the sweetest person and he brought in some light dumbbells, so I did most of the exercices and running with those in my hands. The following days showed that my abs felt it the most. Tuesday evening great late after-Christmas party at friends' house. And the craziness begins, a close friend had some health issues, fortunately everything seems to be OK, but it really freaked me out. Therefore my concentration at work = not that good = staying at work till 8:45 pm in order to work on my presentation for the board of directors on Thursday. And Thursday get in early to fine tune my presentation, the presentation itself, team meeting all afternoon = nonstop mental work from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Fortunately followed by a dinner with friend, I am still sorry for being such a poor company :) All summed up, I had to take Wednesday and Thursday off, because I was in no mental or physical shape to go out and have a decent training.

Oh, how great I felt when my Nikes touched the snowy ground on Friday evening. Yesss, the winter seems to have come back to the Czech Republic. There might even be some decent skiing on Tuesday, yay!!! Back to the Friday night, even though I had tickets to a great concert and disco party evening I was already late for, I had to squeeze in an hour of running. I would have gone crazy if I didn't (this goes to the category of "you know you are a runner, when ..."). And finally there was the concert, hope you enjoy the video bellow (I hope the English speaking readers will enjoy one of the popular Czech bands :) ).


Back on the running note, I slept in quite late on Saturday due to the party on Friday night and went for my first phase of training. 10x 300m hills with my hear rate raising towards 185 BPM and calming down to 120-125 BPM between the intervals. I could feel the toll the past week has taken on me. After the second repetition I felt like I could die any minute and like quitting immediately. Fortunately, it's all in the head. It might not have been one of my best hill trainings, but I accomplished to do all the 10 repetitions followed by easy one mile cool down. Fastish 2 miler (3 km) followed in the evening as the second phase of the training. And as for today, I showed to be totally blond! I was supposed to do 6.87 miles (11 km) at 9:32 min/mile pace (5:55 min/km) - at least I thought so. I did 7 miles at 9:15 min/mile pace and as I downloaded the workout from my Garmin, I realized that I somehow messed up with the paces and the workout should have been 9:55 min/mile (6:10 min/km). So I pushed myself little harder than The Coach wanted, but still felt great, it was beautiful day for running. Even with the two days off, my total this week is 25 miles = 40 km, nothing special but pretty decent. Plus the training session with The Coach. I am happy with it, no more crazy weeks for me please! :)

  1. Ty jsi šílená - nechápu, jak to všechno zvládáš... ;)) Já tento týden vynechala dva tréninky ze čtyř - prostě hrůza. Ve středu jsem jela s kamarádem na jeho první závody - to jsem musela a dneska na biatlonu 4 hodiny venku a jsem utahaná jako kotě. ;) Takže z tréninku nebylo nic. Mám výčitky, ale snad to příští týden doženu. Každý trénink mi v závodě bude chybět. :-(
    Ale hlavně být v psychické pohodě, což doufám jsi. Drž se a doufám, že někdy taky odpočíváš, jak fyzicky, tak psychicky. Jsi dobrá. ;)

  2. Jituš: Tak koukám, že jsem ty odpovědi nějak pomotala, jak si tady píšeme skoro online :) Takže k tomuhle patří i ta odpověď na Tvém blogu :) A zas tak úplně nezvládám, taky občas neplánovaně vynechám, nedá se nic dělat... V pohodě jsem, právě díky tréninku, jinak bych se musela zbláznit ;)

  4. Víkend jsem totálně zazdila (a mrzí mě to). Pro klid v duši jsem v sobotu šla na rodinnou procházku po Praze. Několik hodin v té zimě... Ufff, vrátili jsme se v šest večer (vyšli v půl 12), síla na běh nebyla ani náhodou, ona nebyla síla na nic, bylo mi jako bych uběhla ultramaraton. A včera kurz, dopoledne dohánění sobotního úklidu a vaření. A večer zase žádná síla. Tento týden snad bude lepší. Ať se všem daří

  5. Jsi spravny crazy pink runner!!!! :-))) Dneska mi ma dorazit pas na mereni tepu pro muj Nike+, tak jsem zvedava, jak se na to vrhnu :-))
    Jinak ja mela vikend ve stylu: kdyz kocour neni doma, mys ma pre :-)) Medved byl pryc, takze v patek 13-K, sobotu 21-K a v nedeli 10-K. Puvodne jsem chtela dat v nedeli dvoufazove, ale nakonec jsem uklizela tak dlouho, ze uz nebyla ani energie ani chut :-((

  6. Ses neuveritelna! :) teda holky ja v posledni co nenabeham v tydnu do prace a z prace to nemam:), i kdyz v sobotu 25 a v nedeli 9 s deri:). At se dari! At je svet ruzovej. 12:)

  8. Hujerovo varování: Kilometry sice dobrý, ale v noci na pondělí mě probudila hrozná bolest kolene a asi 20 minut to bolelo a pak to přešlo. Takže příště beru návleky na kolena. :)

  9. Advid, Blondýna & Ondrej1: Pěkné víkendové výkony!!! Naštěstí jsem v pondělí dala 15 km, jinak bych z vás dvou měla pořádný mindrák zase :)

    Advid: Jo, jo, koleno po té 15ce v -6 stupních taky cítím, mrcha jedna!

    12Honza: Začínáš pro mě mít nedostižný běžecký rozměr (myšleno objem). Klobouk dolů. To běhání do/z práce trochu závidím, ale to já fakt nedám :( Ale zase je takhle Bourbon spokojenější, protože se může účastnit veškerého tréninku :) Tak ať Ti to běhá!

  10. no nevim:)... moje tecna:), deri(vace) taky vypada spokojena s treningem, jenze posledne jsme v parku potkali Ivu a hned se ji vrhla pod nohy a zpusobila modriny a odreniny kolen, tak se nevim:), mozna pes je nebezpecny sparingparner, aspon pro ostani:). at nam to beha!! 12:)
