Paleo Cookbook for Life (Book Review)

My longterm but still only online friend Jitka Egressy just published her first cookbook - Paleo Cookbook for Life. I already read it cover to cover :) You can read my review bellow, now go and click on the link and get it to your Kindle, because it is absolutely FREE until Wednesday December 18!!!

Don't expect over complicated fancy recipes that will take you hours. Expect simple yummy meals, sometimes with a non-Paleo ingredient treat version, but always with a Paleo version as well. If you don't want to spend all your money on complicated kitchen gadgets and all your free time cooking, go for this book.

As the author is not a native speaker, the language is sometimes little off, but nothing disturbing and there is nice warm and friendly caring tone throughout the whole book.

Fashion Post ... Yull Shoes Giveaway

Notice: this is mainly girly post and also fashion not that much running :) But all the men are welcome to enter and win beautiful shoes for their girls / women, I am sure it would be highly appreciated!

It's a shoe thing

Well, as almost any girl out there, I love shoes. I truly love high heels, but since I started running more, I inevitably wear high heels less. It is a very sad fact, but I don't think there is a way to work around this. I still do wear them, but usually only for an evening event or so. I still love elegant shoes and it is tricky to find interesting shoes without heels. Obviously when I saw this pink pair of Yull shoes, I was in love!

Made in the UK

The brand was established in 2011 and it is one of the only independent shoe brands manufacturing high heels in the UK! When I browsed through their website, I was amazed about the huge press coverage they had as I originally thought it was some tiny little brand, how foolish of me!

Since Yull has free shipping worldwide, it did not take that long for me to order them. And guess what? I got email from Sarah Watkinson-Yull, the designer herself, that this is the first pair they are shipping to the Czech Republic! Very exciting, girl loves to wear a unique fashion piece not something she can spot on many other girls. On the other hand, I was sorry that nobody here discovered those cute shoes. I still think that high quality beautiful shoes are super overpriced and extremely difficult to find in CZ.

I jumped up on the opportunity and teamed up with Sarah who is so kind that she is offering a pair of Yull shoes of your own choice!!! You can find the giveaway form at the bottom of this page bellow all the photos ... I went little overboard, but I love all the photos :)

The giveaway opens at 9:00 am CET on Friday December 12 and closes on Wednesday December 17 at midnight, so with little luck, you could still have your shoes shipped before Christmas!

Cracking The Ultimate Nut Butter Recipe Secret

First, there was the nut cracking :) I am usually super lazy and buy the nuts already peeled, but it is the Christmas time tradition to have the whole nuts around the house. And I got some from the St. Nicolas on December 5th, so I decided it was logical to peel them rather to have them lying around. Since I don't really like eating hazelnuts as whole nuts, but I love them in nut butters, I knew what to do...

And I made the home made nut butter of them ... all the recipes are super simple. Nuts + powerful blender / food processor + patience = delicious nut butter. I kind of never got the perfect structure, usually cheated by adding little coconut or walnut oil to get the right consistency. I was enjoying the Secret of Raw Cookbook ("Tajemství syrové stravy") and read the tip that I should keep blending / mixing for up to 20 minutes, so the nuts really release the oils. So I decided to persist and I succeeded! The ultimate secret ingredient for succeeding home made nut butter truly is your own patience :)

Mixed nut butter (almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, walnuts)
with touch of cocoa powder and salt :)

  • Nuts of your choice
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Put the nuts in your blender / food processor and start processing them, you will probably need to scrape off the nuts from the sides of the dish. Keep on going until you get the right consistency. It will be surprisingly creamy! As you can see on the photo above.

To make the nut butter taste more "nutella" like,  you can add cocoa powder and I also add pinch of salt, that makes truly huge difference in giving a little punch to the natural flavours of the nuts. Another option is adding cinnamon and pinch of salt.

Voila, you have one of the best paleo / low carb friendly snacks ... the only trouble is, you need to hide it away, because it's so yummy, you could eat the whole jar at once :D

PS: I don't have food processor yet, I only have Catler blender, but it is really cool and powerful one, only trouble is scraping off the tiny remainings from the bottom when you empty the dish...
