Super Busy 3rd Advent Weekend

The third advent weekend was so busy, that I have been recovering from it for half of the week :D You know why? Because we are fully in our Advent Running challenge, you can read more about it in my previous post or at Babeta's blog. Basically from December 1 all the way through December 25 we run at least 30 minutes every day. I was appointed CEO (Chief Elf Officer) and therefore I have many responsibilities which I love, like leading our group on a Saturday long run through Prague parks ...

First synchronized jumping photo at Letná monument (after first hill / stairs)

Jump No. 2 in Břevnov Monastery after another very long hill.

Finally jumping in the shape of star at Hvězda
(hvězda means star in Czech = the building behind us)

I was very happy with this 18 km run, the weather was perfect and for some of our crew this was first time going this far and everyone managed it great!!! First long run for me since Dresden half in October, yay, new training cycle is definitely here. Little relax in the bath and I was off for second shift = baking xmas pastries with my girlfriends and two talented helpers. Turns out it took us 8 hours from 2 pm till 10 pm! I have to admit I was pretty beat up when I came back home. On the other hand feeling proud as this was first time ever baking for xmas on my own not being supervised by my mom :) Still using her recipes and asking for occasional advice over phone ... can't get too independent at the age of 32 right? :D

I think wine is necessary equipment for xmas baking :D

Especially proud of these! Not easy to shape them right.

Sunday ... no time to sleep in, we have another running meet up at 9 am and I had to walk the dogs before. I was really happy we ran very slow and only 5.5 km. That's why I kept emphasizing the importance of taking it easy - in order to take it easy for me ... But honestly, if you are not used to running every day and try such a challenge, don't overdo it, stick to the basic 30 minutes with occasional longer run and be sure to keep the intensity very easy for most of the runs.

Advent running crew!

Who knew I was a pin up girl?

Less than one hour to shower and change and I was up for pin up day with the Elegantní Česko (Elegant Czech). Pin up girls originated in 1950s mainly in the US and the name is derived because men used to pin up the posters with cute girls... It seems I was born for this :D

When the hair stylist chose pink scarf for my hair, I knew I liked her!

Girls having fun!

More elegant option, switching pink to red ...

You think this was enough? Quick sprint home, back to town to have dinner with the girls at Ambiente Brasiliero ... need to refill the iron in my blood stream after all that running, right? Picanha and beef neck are the best ... YUM!

Still not enough ... as I managed to get tickets to long time sold out concert of my favorite band Chinaski <3 LOVE LOVE LOVE them!

We have this intimate relationship for 20 years now :D

And the final Advent weekend is ahead of us! I promised to myself to take it little easier on myself, so I am not totally exhausted by Monday. On the other hand there is 20 km run planned for Saturday and a xmas race on Saturday evening... but we will be taking it easy :)

What are your plans for this weekend?

Advent Running Xmas Challenge 2016

U Advent running began as an online group of crazy running people in December 2015 (at least for me ... stay tuned, now I know we are good kind of crazy). Babeta invited us for a challenge of Advent running that I only followed virtually, even though I knew there were many common events in my hometown of Prague. I had issues with huge blisters on my heels last December, so I often joined with different kind of sport, but tried to stick to the routine of 30 min of activity per day. But then, December 25, the last day of challenge with the last group run came ... and changed my life forever!!!

That's when it all started!!! December 25, 2015

On December 25, I got up early, took Bourbon the dog with me and met with Babeta and her crew for the first time. I stayed little shy and only came back in February for my first regular "run for breakfast". I don't really know how, Babeta motivated me to stick with the group all the way until know when I became CEO = Chief Elf Officer, e.g. right hand of Babeta - CRO = Chief Running Officer (that's the capo di tutti). Little did I know that a year litter my life will be enriched by many new friends and running experiences throughout the year. And especially the one and only Babeta <3

Happy birthday Advent running Czech Republic!

Advent Running Challenge - So what is this about?
  • we run for 25 days in a row
  • every run needs to be at least 30 minutes long
  • you can go as slow or as fast as you want and there is no minimum distance
  • that's it!
If you want to have fun and join us for the group events (that last throughout the year) check the facebook group of Advent running (Adventní běhání) and send us request to join it. We will shortly accept you and then will be looking forward to see you online and even better offline!

And today we had a birthday party!
And we even have special t-shirts and caps! <3

#unlimitedtogether Pink Sisters

Thursday evening was full of running events in Prague... 10 km fun run with Gigathlon ambassador & Olympic marathoner Eva Vrabcová Nývltová. And also Nike kick off event for the new shoe Lunar Epic Low. Having spent all the spring with our Gigathlon Czech Republic family, I decided to join the Nike crowd :-)

We hang around at the NTC studio, met with old and new friends like ... Lenka from Holky ve formě, Soňa & Michal from Running2, Denisa from Linheart, Iva and many more! Pavel & Zuzka were interviewed and finally there was time for run! 4 different options / levels to choose from. We teamed up with Iva (Iva Runs the World) eg. Pink sister in crime and went with the Speed Run group. Had lot of fun, we only met in person first time this Wednesday at Advent Running Run For Breakfast, but we have known each other for few years throug Insta & blogs :-) Fun fact: we dressed the same without knowing, so everyone started calling us pink sisters :D

What's with the #unlimitedtogether hash tag? There will be pre-Rio summer challenge announced next week. Stay tuned!

Great opportunity to wish Zuzka & Pavel good luck for Rio in person!

Having fun taking photos #unlimitedtogether

Hard work time! Iva why did we choose the speed group??? My legs hurt today!

And more fun on the stairs!

Running sisters 😂 we didn't plan to dress exactly the same, I swear!

The actual shoe: Nike Lunar Epic Low.
I didn't test it yet so no comments, no opinions so far.
I'm little sceptic about the sole so far :o

There were actually two Nike events happening this week. At the earlier one, 8 year cooperation agreement between Nike & Czech Athletics was announced and the Czech team gear for Rio was revealed with elite athletes and future stars. The Prague Castle view was amazing!

Funny backstage shot

Official one :-)

Now I'm off for relax & training with Babeta @ Babeta Runs :-) Expect lot of jumping photos :D

VLOG: Confessions Of Overtrained Runner & 2016 Race Plans

Reflections of first running race (10 km) of 2016, about where I have been and where I am hopefully heading. Short insight in my racing plans as well. Probably wouldn't have time to write down my crazy thoughts, so I recorded a VLOG for you.

When out of shape, call friends to action

Long time no see, right? Well it seems I went through a state of overtraining last fall and I have been slowly getting back. I am definitely not as lean as I am used to and I am out of shape. Not a mentally easy state. But I got a huge help I am so excited for that I want to share it with you.

It started in December when Babeta brought the idea of Advent Running from UK to Prague. I participated virtually by exercising almost every of 25 advent days and we finally met in person on December 25 for a special xmas run...

Fortunately, Babeta had the idea that it would be a pity not to continue working with the group of enthusiasts. So now, we have a run for breakfast every Wednesday morning and an evening fun run for beer every other Thursday.

The route we run is same every week and it is beautiful sightseeing through the historic heart of Prague. Running over the Charle's Bridge every week when it is not yet crowded by tourists is simply awesome!!!

Though the group I made great new friends like Tereza and Lenka here... And even motivated myself to go out racing in the Winter Run, which I definitely wouldn't do by myself when out of shape.

This beautiful view never gets old <3

What I wanted to say? When struggling with motivation, bad mood, hitting a rock bottom... Group of running / exercise friends is a great way to get back on track. It is soothing to your soul to have company in misery. And soon it is way less misery and way more fun!!!

If you are hooked to my Facebook and / or Instagram, you probably saw that I have been doing lot of cycling and swimming lately. That's because I'm getting ready for the challenge of Gigathlon Czech Republic this coming fall. An article about this year's racing plans coming soon... Last but not least, early bird cheapest entry fees for Gigathlon Czech Republic are valid until March 31 - sign up here! (Check out more on Gigathlon in older posts)
